Course Summary

As a team leader you strive to be more agile and help your team be more productive. To succeed, you need an agile mindset, combined with leadership and team management skills. At the same time need to do so within the context of your organization and its culture. The new Disciplined Agile Lean Scrum Master (DALSM) training and certification provides tools and strategies to help you lead an agile team, influence people, and remove impediments. Using real-world agile strategies, you will learn how to tailor your team’s Way of Working (WoW) to optimize productivity and continuously improve. Upon completion of this workshop, you will be prepared to become DALSM certified.

Course Outline

Day 1 – Foundation of Lean

  1. The foundations of Lean (systems, time, and education).
  2. Learn the principles of Lean
  3. Learn the time aspect of value
  4. Conduct a value stream mapping exercise
  5. Learn what an effective organization’s value stream looks like
  6. Discuss the roles of management and their effect on culture
  7. Describe how to use PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) for continuous improvement

Day 2 – Foundation of Disciplined Agile

  1. The Disciplined Agile Mindset
  2. Overview of Disciplined Agile
  3. People and Roles in Teams
  4. Team Agility and Life Cycle Choices
  5. Concept of Value Streams
  6. Disciplined Agile Enterprise
  7. Disciplined Agile IT
  8. Disciplined DevOps
  9. Lean Governance

Day 3 – Choosing Your Way of Working (WoW)

  1. DA Principles and Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS)
  2. Five Steps to choosing your team’s WoW
    1. Analyze the Context
    2. Select Best-Fit Life Cycle
    3. Connect the Dots
    4. Make Some Choices
    5. Guided Continuous Improvement
  3. Work through 2 Scenarios and play the role of Team Lead and apply DA Concepts/Tools
  4. DA Certifications and Paths available


  • Prior to workshop, students must purchase or have a copy of the book Choose You WoW!: A Disciplined Agile Delivery Handbook for Optimizing Your Way of Working (WoW) by Scott Ambler and Mark Lines. If you are a PMI member, you can download a free e-copy.
  • Computer with video and audio capabilities and high speed internet connection.

Course Logistics

  • Course will be delivered live by Project Management Institute Certified Disciplined Agile Instructor (CDAI) through Video Conferencing and Online collaboration tools.
  • Students are highly encouraged to have video cameras on during the workshop to enhance collaboration and engagement amongst attendees.
  • Students Course Materials will be provided (.pdf) one day before the session.
  • This is 3-Day half day course. Each day, workshop will begin at 8:00AM and end by 1PM CDT with frequent breaks.
  • Class size is limited to 21 attendees
